The Heart of Chico
Sycamore Pool at One Mile in Chico is a popular spot in many ways. Its great that our city has this huge public swimming area on one of the many rivers that run through the city. During the summer this place is constantly busy with people swimming and relaxing in the shade of the massive sycamores.
I was on an evening bike ride, trying to shave off a bit of that holiday weight when I saw this large cloud starting to light up. Luckily I was pretty close to this pool and knew I could get a good reflection from the slow moving water. In order to get this image I had to make a two row panorama of about 10 frames each. All of the frames were handheld, then stitched in photoshop, then both panoramas were combined to make this large one. I also used luminosity masks to reduce highlights and bring out the shadows.
