A Tale of Two Mountains

Mt. Shasta and Castle Crags. Two of the most interesting formations in Northern California. Their tales relate to one another, though their forms are drastically different. One is still very much an active stratovolcano, the other an amazing erosional landform that stabs out of the landscape. Both formed due to the subduction zone to the west that has also given rise to all of the Cascadian mountains. This tale is a long one and volumes have been written explaining the story.
